About The Archon's Thesis
The Archon's Thesis is an interconnected lore encyclopedia and companion video essay project dedicated to Final Fantasy XIV. It exists to give players deep world context without the narrative gaps and pacing problems common to long-form gaming content.
It is not a quest-by-quest walkthrough. It is a guided reading of the world — its history, its powers, and its physics — paced to match your own journey through the Main Scenario Quest.
Why this exists
The Archon's Thesis began as a personal project — a reason for Akiudo Suzume to dive deeply into the lore, history, and systems of Eorzea while progressing through the MSQ. What started as private research soon seemed worth sharing: if it helped one player understand the world more clearly, it might help others on the same journey too.

How we approach the story
- Narrative Synchronization — The MSQ timeline is our chronological blueprint. Deep-dives are anchored to the milestones you reach, never ahead of them.
- Thematic Deep-Dives — We explore world-building, side-content narratives, and universe physics (from the Aetheryte network to the Coils of Bahamut) rather than reciting quests.
- Tour Guide Perspective — A third-person limited viewpoint that matches your progression, enriched with primary source documentation.
Spoiler policy
Entries are written from the perspective of a player at the same point in the story as you, and we deliberately avoid revealing late-game plot developments before you would naturally encounter them.
That said, spoilers cannot always be avoided — especially in deep-dives into certain items, quests, and dungeons. Any post that contains spoilers will be clearly marked as such, and where possible spoiler content is gated or deferred to a later entry so you can choose whether to read on.
Primary sources
Where possible, entries cite in-universe and official documentation, such as the Encyclopaedia Eorzea volumes and the Chronicles of Light. Citations appear inline so you can trace any claim back to its source.
A small team, real limits
The Archon's Thesis is run primarily by a single person. Every entry — research, writing, and upkeep — comes from one set of hands doing their best to get it right.
That means mistakes and errors can and will appear on this site. Lore is vast, sources sometimes conflict, and no one catches everything on their own.
If you spot a factual error, a missed citation, a spoiler that slipped through, or anything that does not sit right — Akiudo Suzume would genuinely love to hear from you. Corrections make the encyclopedia better for everyone.
